Southdowns pre-existing medical condtions cover.

Travel Insurance for Pre-Existing Medical Conditions

Many people travel with pre-existing medical conditions, and we are able to provide travel insurance for a wide range of medical conditions following our medical screening process.

When you request a medical travel insurance quote, you'll be asked a series of questions about the health of each traveller you wish to insure. Your answers will then allow us to assess whether we can offer cover and, if so, the premium that applies.

Why is medical screening important?

Travel Insurance is based on the information you provide during your application.

Without full information, we cannot correctly assess risk and ensure that you're offered the most appropriate cover to meet the needs of your travelling party.

Therefore, it is vital that the medical information you provide for every traveller is complete, accurate, honest, and up to date.

We don't offer partial medical cover

We do not offer policies that exclude undeclared medical conditions or provide only partial medical cover.

If medical information is omitted or declared incorrectly, it could affect the validity of your policy or result in claims being declined, even if the claim is not related to the undeclared condition.

If you're unsure whether a condition should be declared, it's always best to tell us during the medical screening process.

Check your Medical Declaration

Once your policy has been issued, we'll send a Medical Declaration for each traveller who has medical conditions declared. Please read each declaration carefully to make sure all the information is correct.

If you notice any errors or if there are any changes in health, contact us as soon as possible so we can review your policy and make any necessary updates.

Money Helper Medical Directory

If we're unable to provide a quotation for a medical condition or combination of conditions, you may still be able to obtain suitable cover from a specialist insurance provider.

Money Helper, provided by HM Government, offers a Medical Directory that can help you find insurers specialising in travel insurance for people with more complex medical conditions.

You can access the directory:

  • online through the Money Helper website; or
  • by phone on 0800 138 7777 - calls are free and lines are open on Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
